RECOGNISATION
Mahabodhi Lord Buddha B.Ed college is offering two years B.Ed course and is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University, Rono Hills, Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh and duly recognized by the National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE) and permitted by the State Govt. Of Arunachal Pradesh, Department Of Higher Education.
The college promotes innovative works and research in the field of teacher education by introducing action researches, work-experience activities, seminars, indigenous teaching learning materials and by conducting rigorous skill based teaching and training programs’ etc to bring behavioral change in teacher-trainees in particular and upgrading of teacher education in general.
INTRODUCTION
The bachelor of education (B.Ed.) programme aim at developing the understanding and competencies required by teachers for effective teaching learning process at the secondary stage. The programme also provides opportunities of sharing experience gained by teachers. It enables teacher to select and organize learning experiences according to the requirement of learners. In addition, it provides knowledge and develops in them an understanding of educational evaluation, school management,etc.
PROGRAMME OBJECTIVE
The programme aims to enable teachers to achieve the following objectives.
- To systematize experience and strengthen the professional competencies of teachers.
- To imbibe knowledge and develop an understanding of the various methods and approaches of organizing learning experience of secondary school students
- To develop skill required in selecting and organizing learning experiences.
- To understand the nature of the learning process.
- To develop skills involved in dealing with the academic and personal problem of learners.
- To acquire knowledge and develop an understanding of various aspects of school management.
- To develop competencies for organizing various instructional and student support activities.
- To develop an appreciation of the role of the teacher in the prevailing socio-culture and political system in general and the educational system in particular
- To develop skills involved in selecting, developing and evaluating tools.
DURATION
The minimum duration of the programme is two years. However, the maximum period allowed for completion of the programme will be five years.

** Fees once paid will not be refundable under any circumstance. It is also not adjustable against any other fees of the college.
** A candidate who discontinues the course during the session shall not be refunded his/her security money.

EXAMINATION CENTRE
EXAMINATION FEES FOR EACH SEMESTER
The admitted candidates have to deposit the examination fees separately as and when notified by the principal of the college before the commencement of the practicum activities and filling up examination form i.e. prerequisite for each-semester examination. A students has to deposit the examination fees amount Rs.1000-/(one thousand)only separately on the day /date of filling the examination form for each –semester examination as per the rule in force from time to time.
REGISTRATION FEES (ANNUAL)
There will be separate notification regarding the registration process and its requirements for the students those who have completed their graduation/qualification degree from any other university apart from the affiliating university i.e. Rajiv Gandhi University.

ADMISSION
INFORMATION ABOUT ADMISSION
The college follows the semester system in B.Ed. course with a component of continues evaluation for bringing qualitative improvement in teaching-learning process. The course is of two years duration spreading over four semesters. Admission to the courses will be done at the beginning of each semester, unless decided otherwise by academic council of the affiliating university.
The prospectus of the college containing application form for admission may be obtained from college office/counter and the duly filled in forms with self attested copies(in duplicate) of the required document as mention in the application form have to be submitted in the office/counter on or before the date as notified below:

INTAKE CAPACITY
The intake capacity of the college for the current session is 50 (fifty) which is subjected to increase in next academic year.
ELIGIBILITY
Candidate should clear the RGUCET for B.ed course. Candidate with B.A/B.COM./ B.SC. degree from Rajiv Gandhi University or any other recognized university with at least 45% marks in graduation degree under(10+2+3)pattern/scheme is eligible for the admission to B.ed.course.SC/ST candidates shall be given a relaxation of 5% marks. PG holders are also eligible for the course and will be given preference.
RESERVATION
60% of seats in the total will be reserved for ST candidates ,9% for OBC ,3% for SC,5% for wards of ex-service men,3% for differently abled and 20% for general candidates. However, if there are no OBC, SC, GENERAL and Differently abled applicants etc. the seat will go to ST category and if ST candidates are not available then seat will be treated as general.
One seat will be reserved as sports quota out of general quota .The outstanding sports men/sports women will be given 10% weightage for representing the country at the international level,5% for representing the state at the national level and3% for enter-university at national level and shall be added as weightage to marks obtained at qualifying exams. However, the candidates applying under the sports quota will have to satisfy the minimum percentage of marks prescribed to be eligible for the seats reserved for general category.
For NSS volunteer, a weightage of 5 marks will be given for (i) 240 hrs of social service and 2 special camps/1 NIC (National Integration Camp)/RDC Delhi (Republic Day Camp) and weightage of 3 marks for (ii) 120 hrs of social service /1 special camp.
For NCC cadet, weightage of 5 and 3 marks will be given for ‘C’and ‘B’ certificate holders respectively.
ADMISSION PROCEDURE
The admission in B.Ed course shall be made on purely MERIT basis, of marks obtained in the qualifying examination or any other selection process/criteria in force from time- to- time.
SELECTION PROCEDURE
Actual admission shall be based on merit in accordance to the following criteria:
- Percentage of marks in graduation (10+2+3) with additional weightage as under:
- 2% marks for honours in any subject.
- 2% marks will be given to those who hold master degree at the time of submission of application.
- 10% marks for graduates from Rajiv Gandhi University or 5% marks for APST graduate from other universities.
- Order of merit shall be determined after giving the weightage to the above point (a, c &b). However, distribution of seats to candidates from different streams/subject will be taken into consideration as far as practicable.
- Selected candidates have to submit an undertaking that they are not in service however, if anyone is in service, then, he or she will have to submit a no objection certificate and two year leave certificate from his/her employer on the date of admission positively.
- The admission will be only in one phase and the candidates seeking admission should apply for admission on or before 12th July 2016.
ADMISSION RULES
- Students who have passed their graduation or Post graduation under any recognized College/Institution/ Universities are eligible for admission.
- All admissions are provisional until approved by the University.
- Students will be given admission according to merit basis for limited seats.
REQUIREMENTS AND PROCEDURES FOR ADMISSION
- Eligible candidates should submit the duly filled applications before the last date as notified on the college notice board & prospectus.
- Copies of the necessary documents duly self attested should accompany the application.
- The selection list will be notified based on the rules of merit and roaster as prescribed by the Government and the University.
- Students should attach the caste/Sports/NSS/NCC cadet certificates wherever necessary to claim reservation under different categories.
- The prescribed fees should be paid during the time of admission.
- Original Marks sheet, caste certificate and TC should be produced at the time of admission for verification.

Note: Candidates are advised to make copies of all original testimonials (Certificates, Marks card, TC, Caste, income certificates etc.) as they cannot be returned to them until their admission is approved by the University.
GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT EXAMINATION
- The College follows Semester System for the two years B.Ed. Programme with a component of continuous and comprehensive evaluation for bringing qualitative improvement in the Teaching Learning Process.
- There shall be 21 papers (including four practical and field experience paper of 50 marks and 100 marks) of 100 marks each in the course. The course shall be evaluated in two parts i.e. Internal Assessment part for 25% and Semester-end Examination for 75% marks for each paper. In addition there shall be teaching practice and viva-voce examination which shall be evaluated in terms of grades.
- A Student must attend a minimum of 75% of the lectures, tutorials, seminars etc organized by the institution during each semester of the academic year to be eligible to appear in the examination.
- The internal assessment shall be based on term paper, seminar paper, assignments, tutorials, internal written examination/ assessment and participation in community work etc. There shall be three Internal Assessments (IA) for each course in a semester. The marks obtained in the best two, out of the three Internal Assessment shall be out of 25 marks and assignment and seminar presentation shall be out of 10 marks. This shall be normalized to maximum 25 marks for consideration towards internal assessment.
- A student must obtain a minimum of 40% marks in at least two sessional assessments in each theory paper in a semester and attend 75% of lectures and tutorials, to qualify for appearing in the semester-end examination, failing which he /she shall not be allowed to fill-up the Examination Form for End-Semester Examination. In case of practical oriented subjects or papers, a student also has to secure 40% marks in the practical sessional assessments.
- A candidate shall apply for admission to an examination in the prescribed form to the Head of the Institution. Such application shall be accompanied by a certificate indicating that (i) the candidate had attended the minimum number of lectures, etc. in respects of all courses, (ii) the candidate had cleared the Sessional works, if any, and (iii) all dues including prescribed examination fees have been deposited.
- In order to pass the examination, a candidate must secure a minimum of 40% marks in Internal Assessment /Sessional Work and 40% marks in each theory paper in semester end examination separately. The aggregate percentage required for passing the examination in each semester is 45%.
- Those securing 45% and above but less than 60% will be placed as Second Class and those securing 60% and above will be in the First Class.
- In case of improvement, the division will be awarded on the basis of the total marks secured following the improvement in the existing rules of improvement.
- A student shall be allowed to move from one semester to the next semester, if he/she clears at least three theory courses/papers with 45% aggregate marks in the qualifying theory papers and Teaching practice & Viva-voce examination with minimum of ‘C’ grade in the End- Semester Examination of the first semester.
- The practice teaching and viva voce will be evaluated in terms of grades having following equivalent marks.

- A candidate who is unable to clear (i) internal assessments in each theory paper, (ii) practice teaching and viva-voce examination, and/or (iii) unable to pass in minimum three papers with requisite aggregate percentage of marks/ grade (i.e. 45%) in qualifying papers in the first semester shall be out of the programme and would require to seek fresh admission as per admission criteria in force from time to time.
- For regular students the duration of End-semester Examination shall be three (03) hours.
- The medium of instruction and examination in the study programme shall be English only.
- The College may cancel the Admission/ Examination of a candidate, if it is found that he/she is not eligible for admission/appear in the examination and has obtained admission through misrepresentation or a concealment of fact.

The academic year 2020-21 in the college will start from (notify later) and the college will observe a well –defined schedule of academic activities for the smooth and successful completion of the academic year.
